The alu pad protects the critical zone before the tape is installed. The valve hole is prepared first, not searched for through the tape later.
How it works

GLUY seals the rim bed, spoke holes and valve zone mechanically. The tyre remains its own part of the system and must be airtight by itself.
Process
Three steps instead of improvised tape.
The system logic is deliberately simple: prepare the critical zone, place the tape with control, secure the end and press it down.
Rim bed
Place the tape with control
The foam-matrix tape is laid into the rim bed with tension and pressure. The seal is created mechanically at the rim.
Finish
Secure and press the end
The red end patch secures the tape end. The press tool makes compression repeatable in the critical areas.
Set logic
Why it is a set, not just tape.
The parts solve different points in the wheel. Loose roll material would split that logic apart again.

The key limit stays clear: GLUY seals the rim mechanically. The tyre itself must fit a sealant-free setup.
Which GLUY width do I need?+
Measure the inner width of your rim between the rim hooks. The GLUY rule is: inner width + 2 mm. A 23 mm rim becomes the 25 mm GLUY width.
Do I really ride without sealant?+
GLUY seals the rim mechanically. Fully sealant-free only works if your tyre and casing are airtight as well.
Why is GLUY a set?+
Valve zone, tape end and compression are solved together. That is why tape, alu pads, end patches and press tool belong together.
